Head of Operations, Other Ocean

Based in St. John’s, Deirdre is recognized for her commitment to economic and social diversification in Atlantic Canada, her collaborative efforts with educational institutions, and her success in recruiting top talent from around the world. She currently serves as Head of Operations for Other Ocean, which develops video games for the industry’s leading publishers.

Deirdre has helped shape Other Ocean over its 12-year history. In 2006, she spearheaded the establishment of the company’s original video game development studio on Prince Edward Island. The next year, she oversaw the establishment of Other Ocean’s Quality Assurance and Community Management Company, Sculpin QA, followed by the establishment of Other Ocean’s second development studio in St. John’s. In 2013, Other Ocean’s PEI development studio was acquired by video game corporate giant Electronic Arts. Deirdre re-established Other Ocean’s production presence on PEI in 2016 by expanding Sculpin QA to include development of Original IP and top tier third-party development.

Other Ocean was recently nominated for an Emmy Award for its work on Rick and Morty Virtual Rick-Ality for Play Station VR.
