This award is presented to a newcomer entrepreneur or to a business that serves newcomers in a rural or urban area in Newfoundland and Labrador. The individual or business has achieved notable success in a newly established business venture (within the last 5 years) and is currently conducting business in the province. Nominees in this category should have a financially viable operation (home- or office-based) in technology, trades, transport, natural resources, health, recreation, hospitality, retail, food service, arts, or education. The business demonstrates growth or the potential for growth based on market demand and current consumer trends. Other indicators of success may include employing skilled foreign workers, meeting the needs of a culturally diverse marketplace, or incorporating innovative ways to do business while contributing to the tapestry of multiculturalism in Newfoundland and Labrador.
